About

Hanakoleah is an Arabic recipe library covering cuisines from all over the world — every recipe with its ingredients, steps and real timings, originally written in Arabic.

Who we are

Hanakoleah («هناكل ايه؟») is an Egyptian project by Money Leek, founded by Karim Awaad. It started in August 2025 with its first recipes and articles, and was rebuilt on its own platform in September 2026.

Recipes and articles are published under Marwa Mohamed — Food Editor.

The idea

Most Arabic recipes online are written in a hurry: measurements that aren't precise, missing steps, and timings copied from site to site without anyone trying them. The one who pays the price is the person standing in the kitchen, discovering the recipe doesn't work.

Hanakoleah started out to fix that: one recipe for each dish, written in enough detail for you to make it right the first time, and without a long story before the ingredients.

How we write a recipe

  • Quantities by weight and by cup — So they work whether or not you have a scale.
  • Every step with its timing — Not just “brown the onions”, but for how many minutes, on what heat, and what they should look like when they're done.
  • Common mistake — Every recipe names the thing that usually ruins it, and how to avoid it.
  • Nutrition per serving — Estimates that vary with portion size and the oil used — we include them so you can compare, not so you can count milligrams.
  • FAQ — The questions people actually ask about the dish, with a short technical answer.

What is on the site today

461 published recipes from 34 cuisines around the world, each one available in both Arabic and English. We add new recipes every day, and older ones are reviewed and updated whenever we find something missing.

Photographs

Dish photos come from sources licensed for commercial use (Wikimedia Commons and Openverse), and we check every photo by hand to make sure it really shows the right dish — if we can't find a matching photo, we use a designed image rather than a misleading one.

A note

The nutrition information and health tips on this site are for general guidance. If you have a specific medical condition — such as diabetes, high blood pressure or a food allergy — consult a nutrition specialist or your doctor.
