Best Blender in Egypt: For Juice, Smoothies, and Grinding Spices

Marwa Mohamed 3 min read

The Bottom Line: For an Egyptian kitchen that makes juice, grinds spices, and coffee, get a blender with grinders included (Braun PowerBlend JB3273). If you want larger capacity and power at a medium price, Kenwood BLM45 (2 liters and 1000 watts). On a small budget, Moulinex LM2421. If most of your use is smoothies for one person, NutriBullet 600, or Tornado TBL-1000W if you want cheaper.

What Will You Use It For?

This is the question that determines the blender, not the brand.

  • Juice and blended soup for the family: A jug blender from 1.5 to 2 liters.
  • Smoothie or protein shake for one: A cup blender (like NutriBullet), where you blend and drink from the same cup.
  • Grinding spices, coffee, and mincing garlic: A blender with a grinder or mincer, instead of buying a separate grinder.
  • Ice and frozen fruits: At least 800 watts, and 1000 is better.

Power in Watts

400–500 watts is enough for normal juice and soup. From 800 watts and above, you will be able to grind and crush ice without the motor heating up quickly. High wattage without good blades won't make much difference, so look at both.

Glass or Plastic?

Glass is heavier, but it doesn't scratch and doesn't absorb the smell or color of tomatoes and turmeric. Plastic is lighter and safe if the jug drops, but over time it can get cloudy and scratched. If you grind a lot of spices, glass is better.

Blender or Juicer?

The blender grinds the fruit whole with its fibers, so the juice comes out thick like banana with milk and mango, and keeps the fiber that is more filling. The juicer separates the juice from the pulp, so it produces light orange or carrot juice. If you drink light juices every day, the juicer is more suitable. If you make fruit cocktails, smoothies, and soup, the blender covers more. And there are blenders that come with a juice strainer, but they don't produce the same result as a juicer.

Check the Warranty and Seller

  • Check who the seller is: Amazon or the official brand store is better than another seller with the same product name.
  • An "international warranty" might not be accepted at maintenance centers in Egypt, so ask before you buy if a local warranty isn't written.
  • Make sure the grinders and attachments in the picture are actually inside the box, and written in the contents list.

Hand Blender: A Cheaper Alternative for Certain Things

If most of your use is blended soup, baby food puree, or tomato sauce, a hand blender might suffice. You blend with it right in the pot without having to transfer hot food, cleaning it is much easier, and it takes up the space of a small drawer. But it can't crush ice, isn't suitable for fruit juice in quantities, and not for grinding spices. Many people find that a medium jug blender and a cheap hand blender together cover everything in the kitchen.

To Make the Blender Last

Don't run it for more than 1 minute continuously on heavy items, and let it rest between times. Put liquids first and then dry items, so the blades can spin freely.

FAQ

Can I grind coffee and spices in the blender?

Yes, in the small grinder that comes with some blenders, using short pulses rather than continuous operation. The large jug is not suitable for small dry quantities because the blades won't reach them.

Can I put hot soup in the blender?

Let it cool down a bit first, don't fill the jug more than half, and remove the small cap in the middle and cover it with a towel. The hot steam can push the lid off while you are running it.

Why does the blender stop working on its own while running?

Most blenders have protection that shuts off the motor when it overheats. Let it cool down for a quarter of an hour, divide the quantity, and add a little more liquid.

Blender or food processor (chopper)?

The blender is for liquids, juice, and soup. The food processor is for chopping, slicing, grating, and dough, like a chopper and Taameya maker. If you do both a lot, a blender with grinders can cover light chopping, but not dough.
